GOODWOOD REVIVAL 2011: MOTORCYCLES

Bikes were not predominant in the Goodwood Arena but of outstanding presence all of them. We had the street bikes; cafes, bobbers and other classics on one side, and then the racing bikes competing in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy. The “Le Mans Start” race was open to 350cc to 500cc, built from 1962 to 1966. Mostly Manx Nortons, we also could enjoy listening to a handful of Matchless G50s, two MV Agusta 500/3s, a Ducati 350 Desmo, a Gilera 500/4 and a Honda CR450. Last but not least we could also see a pack of classic motocross motorcycles riden by old champions like Les Archers, Don & Derick Rickman or Dave Curtis. The work and craftsmanship styling on all bikes was incredible. Celebrity mechanic crews dressed in impeccable gowns were rushing to have their rides sound for each race. Open boxes were a great opportunity to learn the insights of british motorcycle racing from the best practitioners in the world. Norton 500SS Racer with low boy frame. The bike that was destined to become a star but destiny had other plans. Great character! 3rd on the British Classic Championship The Motocross chaps. If you have heard the Roar of

GOODWOOD REVIVAL 2011: FACES

ElSolitarioMC has been fortunate enough to be invited to take part in the Goodwood Vintage Revival. Goodwood is a beautiful state located in the heart of Sussex, best of the English countryside and center of vintage motor culture in the Pirate Island. Can you Imagine a racing weekend organized by the best possible Hotel in the world? Well even if you could, you should make it double, add some salt, pepper, a hint of lemon, celery & Perrins Sauce… put a few Spitfires on the Air… and yet, you won’t even be close to what Lord March has created here. Luxury was even in the smallest detail of a wonderfully cut & executed event. Cars were the center piece but although bikes were scarce they were of extreme quality and lets not forget about aircrafts! What to say about the people? Well, it was fabulous! Only in England could you succeed planning an adventure like this. Spectators, gathered around the “heavy” machinery, were reviving the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s style creating a magical atmosphere. Again, only in England would you achieve to gather such a collection of the motoring finest. We would like to thank Vincent Prat, frontman of the

Since the moment I saw it, I fell in love and approached its driver so as to try and offer him any/all of my “camels” in order to make a deal, which he kindly refused. “My kids would be greatly dissapointed if I ever sold this car, as they grew up in it. One day it will be for them”. I was sad by his refusal but, in a way, happy that the cute van was adored at home. Love Cadillac Need Oil? Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. Boat Tail Speedster? Bentleys are real COOL. As Ettore Bugatti defined them we adore “The fastest Truck on Earth”
