Last tuesday around late midnight hooked on the phone with dearest punk Polo Garat;
Polo?… oui! …
How r u cabron? … cool…
Just preparing a new photograph exhibit and you are in it! …
Me? … yeah! …
I’m calling it Wild Pulpo…
Nooooo… Wahahahaa!!…
Its all about our times this summer… our travels… & the constant search for octopus…
Cool! … Can I see it? …
Tomorrow on your mailbox pulpito…
Can’t wait cabron…
And one week later… here we go!
Not an easy job but a very cool one indeed, being the first publishing Polo’s latest work.
Fuck we feel the pressure but we love it for that same reason.
All photos in this collection are scans from the original films & have been shot through the rangefinder of a charming Leica M7.
Polo Garat was born in the 60’s in the french Basque Country. Co-founder of the Odessa Collective, his style knows no boundaries and is always looking to brake any rules aimed to limit expression. His punk driven youth, has developed into a solid attitude & style, from which an attentive viewer might grab a slice and enjoy what it feels like to think and act outside planned reality. It is the genuine and “un-cliched” approach to the photographic subjects, that empowers him to strip off all appearances and unveil the rawness of the soul. It is the eye of the pirate road, the speed bum, pure tequila & gasoline!@#$%^&*¡™£¢
Keep on speeding bandido!
Love & light from El Solitario family.
