Riding 1.600 kilometers in 2 days ended up being quite a nightmare. Left Madrid with Cesar from (Acero Recycling Bicycles), in a bright Friday afternoon, through Navacerrada, on our way to Soria. Next morning, after a goodnight sleep on a church’s courtyard, only ruptured by the freaking grass sprinklers!@#$%!! … awaited La Rioja, Pamplona and the Pyrenees!! Ahead was one of the most beautiful roads we had ever experienced on a motorcycle. Riding in couple (Great Cesar!) on back country roads is pure Soul-Food. In almost 800 kilometers only “suffered” about 10 kilometers of arid highways filled with vacationers and their silly tinned wheels. Arrived at the Paul Armagnac Circuit at 5:00pm just on time for Kris’s last Saturday run on the track. Friends, laughs, paella, (Dani!) lots of rain and a good nite sleep (Dani & Rodrigo!! HaHa!!). Zzzzz ZZZzzzzz zzzzZZZZ…
The next morning after a hot tea, and the impossibility of finding a croissant, we were decided to face fate. Raining skies and the will to arrive to Galicia were always menacing. Juxtaposed to the rider’s heaven experienced on the way up, the return was a living hell. 800 highway kms… just couldn’t bear it… In Burgos thought about burning the ol’ Ducati down to ashes, in Leon I almost do it! Finally at 10:00pm made it home.
At arrival, greased, torn and broken, when asked where I was last… say… Monday? I had to squeeze my brain and guess… but the biggest grin crossed my face!
FTW!
PS: To the Camembert tart that stole my Ltd. Edt. Supreme Golden Frogskins: Fuck you! sure you don’t deserve them.
